Long time no post!
Update on my life: I'm taking fifteen credits instead of twelve, became my student government's Social Media Chair which escalated to becoming Vice President, successfully passed a proposal to start a school paper from scratch, and founded the Cogswell Collective, a new photography club on campus. All while taking fifteen credits instead of twelve and still being Gladeo's Internship Program Director. Oh, and I am flying to Washington, DC for the Junior Achievement National Student Leadership Summit as the Alumni Ambassador again this year, plus I just got hired to work as an ambassador for my degree at school.
How am I alive, you ask?
I don't know, but I am.
So here I am, recently resurrected from finals, bringing you a long awaited post from +FSHN.
Yes, summertime is here. But last month, the Cogswell Collective and I had a day shoot around San Jose- #CandidSJ. The theme was 'modern urban', and the models were asked to wear muted colors to fit the vibe. I wanted to highlight a few outfits from that day that I thought were interesting.
Here is my good friend, Keith Larsen.
In terms of aesthetics, Keith definitely dressed in theme. He's sporting a very contemporary urban look that suits him really well.
Keith is wearing a Distressed Longline Tee from 21 Men. This style was made popular by Kanye West and has sparked controversy ever since. To many people, it's a new aesthetic. Some people won't call it new because we've been wearing distressed jeans for decades. Some people will straight up say it's trash.
I say it depends on your style.
For Keith, for example, it looks well put. He is wearing a Striped Long Muscle Tee inside for that pop of color. There are two ways you can go with a distressed top- either you match it with a distressed bottom (at the risk of looking like you were mugged) or you wear a solid pair of pants to emphasize on the shirt (a safe and well balanced choice). Keith decided to wear black jeans from Bullhead.
Keith recently moved to California from New Jersey, so you can tell that his style is very East Coast. Usually, wearing earth tones might look neutral, but the distressed shirt gives it some detail and the undershirt gives the look a little West Coast flavor.
Lots of people were a big fan of Keith's shoes. He is sporting a pair of Tan GBX Veno Boots that you can pick up at your local Journey's.
I had a great time shooting this look with Keith. Even though he has minimal modeling experience (but c'mon, look at the guy), he really brought it and became one of the best models we had for the shoot. Keith is also a very talented musician. Check out his SoundCloud and follow him on Facebook, you won't regret it. He also made a really cool video from the shoot. Check it out below:
