*INSERT ICONIC GUITAR RIFF FROM THE FRIENDS' THEME SONG*
Hey guys! I know I'm a sucky blogger and I don't post much, but today's blog post is actually going to be about... FRIENDS!
Yep, friends. We all have them. They come in different shapes and sizes, personalities, attributes, talents, scents, textures... and all that. But today I want to feature the friends I have who are in the blogging and music industry!
I've worked with these guys in one way or another, and I have to say, they are all GREAT! So without a further adieu, here are my FRIENDS OF THE WEEK (should that be a thing?)
1. BRANDON FONG
You can check out Brandon's Sound Cloud here:
Brandon Fong is a musician from my hometown of Hercules, California. He has been my best friend since middle school, and I constantly rely on him for support. Recently, he released his first EP, Began, which he put on Bandcamp.com for everyone to download and listen for free.
Here is a song from the EP, my favorite one, Childhood!
Brandon is also a YouTube musician, with more than 200 subscribers and 32,000 views! Here's his latest cover of the song Hello by Adele:
2. SARA BEATRIZ, NOT A PERFECT GIRL
Sara is a blogger from Brazil! We spent some years at Hercules Middle High together and got to know each other as friends, and recently we've been connecting more over the thing we have in common- THA BLOG LYF. Her blog, Not a Perfect Girl, is centered around reviews, fashion, make up, DIY ideas, and well, Sara! It is available in both English AND Portuguese, which is like, double the YAAAS. Aside from that, Sara is also a pretty famous YouTuber! Check out her "Heads or Tails Tag" video below!
Mahal is one of my closest friends and one of the most inspiring individuals I've ever known. Read her blog, you'll know what I mean.
Mahal is a blogger from Hercules, California. I spent most of my most memorable moments in high school with this woman, from The Academy of Hospitality and International Tourism, to theater, to Interact, the RCVB internship, and most importantly, through Herban Movement, where she worked as our fashion role model / Public Relations Executive.
Recently, Mahal has refocused her blog to be more centralized to the idea that brought about MahalW.com - to take a look through her eyes. While she writes a lot about fashion and beauty, she also writes about some pretty real-life inspiring stuff, like her most recent post, No Money, No Problems, which actually taught me a thing or two about... money.
If you don't already know, Rachel Gorgas also goes by the name of BAE. Originally from San Diego, CA, Rachel is currently attending college in London. We met at Junior Achievement's National Student Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C. this summer, and even though me and Rachel only met for a few days, we've been talking A LOT ever since. She quickly became one of my closest friends, a fashion icon, hair goals, fellow Once Upon a Time fanatic, California Squad member, text buddy, top Snap Chat friend, mail and package buddy, etc etc etc
ANYWAY, Rachel runs The Mind of Style, a blog dedicated to style and fashion. Rachel is literally capable of wearing anything and looking like the cover of Teen Vogue. One of which, is my custom Herban Movement Exclusive Officer Sweatshirt from our 2015 spring collection (HAH), which, as pictured above, she modeled in the streets of London. She slays that sweater more than I ever have. Rachel's blog is focused on fashion photography in different themes, aka Rachel slaying in different styles. I also had the opportunity to create this brand new logo for The Mind of Style! (above)
5. AUSTIN "MIKE" SYBOUTS
Last but not the least, we have Austin "Mike" Sybouts, a DJ, producer, and special effects /video game audio producer from Palmer, Alaska. He is also a Digital Audio Technology student at Cogswell Polytechnical College in San Jose, California. Oh, and he is also my boyfriend.
That's right, ya boy is dating someone not from the lower-48. Austin shot me with a Nerf gun a couple months ago, and immediately I was drawn to him. The best part about dating him is that I'm dating my best friend. Check out his Sound Cloud below.
Austin is currently working on releasing his upcoming album, Hyperactive Synergy. The title track and first single from the album is on his Sound Cloud, but also on his YouTube channel! Check it out to the right:
I am currently working as Mike's manager (babeger), helping him with career based endeavors and artwork! Watch out for his website going live soon! You can follow him on Twitter, Instagram, and like his Facebook Page!
Don't forget to give his music some love on Sound Cloud! He makes music from different generes!
