"As the Co-Founder and Executive Director for Gladeo, I had the distinct pleasure of working with and overseeing Joseph on a variety of projects. Through his time with Gladeo he has exhibited the following characteristics:
It has been a pleasure not just working with Joseph but also getting to know him as a person. He is definitely somebody whose opinion I solicit when making some important decisions in our organization."
Michelle Cho, Co-Founder & Executive Director, Gladeo
"I first met Joseph Fortuno when he was a high school student competing in the National JA Company of the Year Contest. All of the students who make it to that level of competition are smart, articulate, confident, and business savvy. Joseph demonstrated all of those characteristics and more. In learning about his background I discovered that he overcame overwhelming family obstacles to achieve his success, which resulted in him becoming an inspiration to his classmates and friends. At a very young age Joseph demonstrated grit, a trait that will make him successful in whatever endeavors he pursues.
Following his graduation from high school, Junior Achievement was invited to have two students participate in a meet and greet with President Barack Obama in the Oval Office. I chose Joseph as one of those students. As a college freshman Joseph was able to interact with the President of the United States in a very credible and professional manner. It was quite impressive. I have seldom seen a young person who could handle themselves in such a mature and professional way in such an intimidating setting.
The following summer we engaged Joseph as one of two interns at our National Student Leadership Summit. Joseph handled the social media promotion during the event as well as serving as a coach/counselor to the high school students participating. Putting in countless hours and lots of hard work he did an outstanding job. He was every bit as reliable as our full time staff and his personal passion buoyed the spirts of all that he worked with.
I highly recommend Joseph Fortuno. He will get the job done!"
Jack E. Kosakowski, President & CEO, Junior Achievement USA
"I had the privilege of working with Joseph when he served as a JA Alumni Ambassador for a national student event which I lead - JA National Student Leadership Summit. Joseph had participated in our teen startup program, JA Company Program, while in high school and attended the Summit initially as a student where his company, Herban Movement, won the Microsoft Social Innovation Award. He was so impressive that he was selected to represent JA when our organization was invited to the White House by President Barack Obama to discuss the topic of youth entrepreneurship.
After starting college, he took initiative and submitted a proposal which ultimately led to us creating the role of JA Alumni Ambassador. Joseph excelled in this role and has set the bar very high for future ambassadors. His primary duties included creation and management of social media content, video production, student activity management, and coaching students. Because of his initiative and leadership, this role has become crucial to the success of the Summit.
Based on my experience working with Joseph in the planning and execution of the Summit, I observed the following:
It has been a pleasure working with Joseph and I would certainly recommend him. His entrepreneurial mindset and strong transferable skills would be an asset to any company or organization that is lucky enough to have him."
Andy Schenck, Curator - Entrepreneurship Experiences, Junior Achievement USA
"I recommend Joseph Fortuno without reservation: consummately professional, yet amicable and warm, Joseph has served on the staff of COG, Cogswell College’s multimedia literary publication, in positions of cumulative responsibility. First, as Social Media Ambassador, he built COG’s social media network – staying on beyond his term as a consultant, on a volunteer basis. Then, in his present role as Student Editor-in-Chief, Joseph took on the role of nurturing and advancing the publication’s editorial vision and brand identity. As expected, Joseph has met each goal with elan. In short, he embodies that unique blend characteristics that constitutes an excellent leader and team member: organized and diligent, creative and driven, he’s always serious about his work, yet doesn’t take himself too seriously."
"Happily endorse Joseph as I mentored him at the Richmond California CVB. Joseph’s talent for graphic design led us to conceive and publish and ad in for Sunset Magazine.
He was an interval team member in the Herban Movement J. A. Program and culinary academy where the team won several awards at the regional and national level."
Beth Javens, Executive Director, Destination Dynamo! Cocoa Beach Main Street
"Joseph goes above and beyond to stay connected to the Junior Achievement network. He is a confident public speaker and is passionate about his work. I continue to be impressed by Joseph's dedication to our mission to empower young people towards economic success."
Audrey Del Prete, Program Manager, Education & Wellness, Junior Achievement of Northern California
"He is a can-do person, full of energy, truly an amazing person. The very first time I spoke with Joseph when he was a senior in high school three years ago, I knew I was talking to a future CEO. At our initially meeting, I told him he would be our ASB president, and 3 years later he is indeed the president for the ASB.
As a student ambassador, I know I can always count on Joseph to provide professionalism and precise information to prospective students and parents visiting the college.
Joseph is brilliant, compassionate, hardworking, and he has my highest recommendation."
Thuy Bui, Senior Admission Advisor, Cogswell College
"I had the pleasure of working with Joseph with Junior Achievement of Northern California. We hosted several events for 5th grade students to participate in a day-long, intensive Social Innovation Camp experience at Cogswell College. Joseph stepped up to recruit and train fellow students from Cogswell to work with these 5th graders on their projects and guide their vision. Joseph's leadership with his peers, and passion for Junior Achievement's mission, was a huge factor in the success of these camps. I'm so grateful he was there to share his expertise and enthusiasm!"
